History of GSM TECH Education Program
GSM’s collaboration with Dallas County Community College District and Tarleton State University has trained over 950 area students in musical theatre production with an annual summer intern program. GSM is known for the elaborate set designs which are created each year in the satellite college classroom located in the Granville Arts Center. For ten weeks each summer, the GAC is home to musical theatre instructors, professional actors and area students who come together to create two musical productions that entertain over 6,500 theatre patrons. GSM’s intern program provides scholarships to pay the tuition expense for these classes through the DCCCD college system.
The GSM Intern program gives area students hands on experience in areas of:
- Performance and Rehearsal
- Set Design and Construction
- Painting and Set Dressing
- Stage Management
- Acting, Singing and Dancing
- Lighting and Sound Design and production
