Summer Education Program

GSM offers a summer learning experience where students (age 16 and up) can learn technical theatre skills in a semi-professional theatre environment such as set construction, crew, props, lighting, and more!

In addition to refining your technical skills, students (age 16 and up) are eligible to earn college credit hours by enrolling in Stagecraft I and II, through collaboration with Eastfield college.  Tuition is paid by Garland Summer Musicals; Credits fully transferrable to all public universities.

GSM will host a spring seminar/webinar.  Look for more details to be announced in January 2021.

History of GSM TECH Education Program

GSM’s collaboration with Dallas County Community College District and Tarleton State University has trained over 950 area students in musical theatre production with an annual summer intern program.  GSM is known for the elaborate set designs which are created each year in the satellite college classroom located in the Granville Arts Center.  For ten weeks each summer, the GAC is home to musical theatre instructors, professional actors and area students who come together to create two musical productions that entertain over 6,500 theatre patrons.  GSM’s intern program provides scholarships to pay the tuition expense for these classes through the DCCCD college system.

  • Performance and Rehearsal
  • Set Design and Construction
